After a decade of waiting, Paramount Pictures has finally given fans the highly anticipated first look at Return of Xander Cage, the action-packed sequel to the 2002 hit xXx and its 2005 follow-up xXx: State of the Union. The film, set to hit theaters in January 2017, promises to bring back all the high-speed stunts, explosive action, and larger-than-life thrills audiences have been craving.
The newly released teaser trailer — which debuted during the 2016 MTV Movie Awards — shows Vin Diesel reprising his role as the charismatic and unstoppable secret agent Xander Cage. In the opening sequence, Cage is shown emerging from self-imposed exile, dragged back into the world of covert operations when a powerful weapon — the Pandora’s Box — falls into the wrong hands.
The trailer gives a taste of the film’s globe-trotting action, featuring explosive stunts on motorcycles, snowmobiles, and even an epic, gravity-defying skydiving scene. The film’s scale promises a visually spectacular adventure, as Xander races against time to stop an international threat.
Deepening the cast, Return of Xander Cage introduces new characters played by Ruby Rose, Deepika Padukone, and Donnie Yen. Ruby Rose appears as a no-nonsense hacker and ally to Xander, while Padukone’s character is a skilled assassin with ties to Xander’s past.
