Looking to cut down on visits to the nail salon? The latest trends are on your side — and so are Hailey Bieber and Anne Hathaway.
This week, Bieber was photographed outside the Cafe Zaffri in New York City wearing a vintage baby blue Gucci dress once worn by Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour in 1998. If I were a betting woman, I’d say Bieber will be making her Met Gala return on 5 May after having skipped fashion’s biggest night in 2023 and 2024.
If that’s the case, it’s safe to assume the nailfluencer will be switching up her mani-pedi in a few short days. Until then she’s keeping things low-key, from the tips of her jelly-gloss nails to her nearly bare toes.

Yes, Hailey Bieber broke the number one rule of an open-toe shoe — and I’m not talking about her toes spilling over the soles of her PVC stilettos (no shade; it just seems like her shoes don’t quite fit, causing a gap at the heel).

To go with the rest of her minimalistic look, Bieber went without coloured polish on her toes, leaving her feet looking as bare as possible.

Now, there are multiple reasons I thought of Anne Hathaway when I first spotted Bieber’s latest look. For one, the baby blue of her Gucci dress brought me right back to the covetable leather coat the Verity star wore to Gigi Hadid’s 30th birthday party on 25 April.
Secondly, Hathaway also stepped out in towering peep-toe stilettos without an obvious pedicure.

In fact, it seems Hathaway is fully committed to the bare nail trend, seemingly going completely polish-free while hyping up her favourite football club, Arsenal, on 29 April.
In the selfie her nails were kept short with minimal shine, creating the natural effect she’s been favouring for many months.
In all likelihood, Bieber and Hathaway did not go completely pedicure-free in the presence of paparazzi. Even when Hathaway went with the bare-nail look at the Ralph Lauren show earlier this month, she entrusted nail artist and clean-manicure expert Elizabeth Castillo with the task.
However, it seems the stars are intent on making clean pedicures the reigning trend of summer 2025 — and you can absolutely try this at home. If there’s one thing that’s difficult to mess up, it’s applying a coat of clear polish to one’s own toes — and if your fingers do shake, it’s unlikely anyone will notice.
Hell, you can probably go without polish altogether, as long as you keep your nails relatively even and fungus-free.
There, we just saved you a bunch of money for the next few months.
